2012 PES Scholarship Application is Open!

Last year we launched the IEEE Power & Energy Society Scholarship Plus Initiative in response to the looming workforce shortfall in the power and energy industry. In the first year of the program, we awarded over $180,000 to 93 students from 51 universities across the United States. This year we're looking to continue to support eligible students and we'd like your help! Our goal in 2012 is to distribute more than 300 scholarships.

We are offering up to $7,000 and assistance with career experience opportunities to qualifying students! They must be full-time, working towards a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, willing to take power engineering courses and have a GPA of at least 3.0. If so, please encourage all eligible undergraduate EE students to apply.

Our goal is simple: we want to increase the number of well-qualified, entry-level engineers in power and energy engineering.

Here's how it works:
  • Eligible students should apply online before June 30th at www.ee-scholarship.org
  • Recipients will be selected by PES volunteers with industry and academic backgrounds.
  • In the Fall of 2012 recipients will be notified of their selection and be provided with information on how to arrange for a career experience with industry-leading companies. The scholarship funds will be distributed to their university/college for deposit and credit against the students account.
