Quality Engineer – Corporate
Grakon, LLC, a major supplier of lighting and engineered trim components to the global commercial vehicle industry, is searching for a Quality Engineer for the Corporate office in Seattle.

Position Summary
In support of customer desires and requirements for flawless new product launches, zero rejects, and zero warranty returns, the Quality Engineer will perform advanced quality functions required in new program development. This role will be the initial point of contact for resolution of all quality issues and warranty claims with assigned customers, responsible for driving to resolution as the voice of the customer. In fulfillment of advanced quality responsibilities, the Quality Engineer must be intimate with customer technical specifications and government compliance requirements. This detailed knowledge will be used for:
• participating in Product development/APQP teams;
• participating in FMEA’s;
• applying statistical methods;
• Design Validation Planning (DVP);
• design review;
• knowledge of gages and fixtures;
• following through the development phase to review all testing results and ensure successful PPAP submission and product launch.

The Quality Engineer will support the customer directly and hands-on. This includes ensuring analysis, containment and corrective action resolution response is carried out and is effective, whether related to any zero mile or warranty quality. The position may include occasional supplier or manufacturing plant location audits in the pursuit of excellence. Reports to the Corporate Director of Quality and Customer Service.

Desired Skill Set
The professional should have experience in APQP from award of program through AIAG PPAP (automotive). Must be able to read and interpret customer, industry (ASTM, SAE, ISO, etc.) technical specifications and translate them into actionable tests and validations. Must have a solid grasp of the quality tools including, FMEA, Control Plan, gage R&R, SPC and capability studies, DOE’s, corrective action, problem solving methods, and good project & time management skills. Must be comfortable working in a team environment with customers or suppliers in high stress situations if necessary. Successful experience participating in product launches as they transition into manufacturing required. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, solid Microsoft office skills, and must be a self starter with a passion for quality. Six sigma, and quality auditing skills a plus. Experience specifically in automotive lighting and photometrics a plus but not required.

Requirements
At least 5 years experience in quality, engineering, or manufacturing.
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business, or a Science/technical field, or a commensurate level of experience or professional certification such as ASQ CQE, CRE, SSBB, etc. at a professional level.
ASQ Certifications a plus.
Must be willing and able to occasionally travel both nationally and internationally.
