Seattle-based Red Dot Corporation is a leading worldwide manufacturer and supplier of mobile heating and air conditioning systems for the heavy-duty trucking, off-road, and military industries. Red Dot custom-designs and manufactures products for its customers, which include noteworthy names such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Pierce, Daimler Trucks, Mack Trucks, BAE Systems, Oshkosh, Volvo and others.

Requirements:
- Mechanical aptitude and skilled with basic electronic lab tools and equipment.
- Ability and willingness to learn and perform mechanical assembly work, including soldering, wire harness assembly, and electronic testing.
- Basic knowledge of analog and digital circuitry, schematics, microprocessors preferable.
- Ability to draft in AutoCAD or other modeling program is preferable but not required.
- Knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently.

Job Description:
Assist Electrical Engineers with various tasks including some or all of the following:
- Designing and testing of prototype electronic systems and assemblies.
- Setting up and monitoring electronic and/or mechanical tests.
- Troubleshooting and repair of electronic assemblies.
- Programming and testing electronic circuits and PC board assemblies.
- Fabrication of wire harness assemblies.
- Design and fabrication of electrical test fixtures.
- PC board design and layout.
- Documentation and release of engineering drawings.
- Miscellaneous engineering tasks.

Schedule:
The internship can start immediately on a full or part time basis and run through the summer or to an agreed upon end date. 20-40 hrs. per week, flexible scheduling.

The primary qualities that we emphasize for our co-op students are the following in order of importance:
- Punctuality and dependability regarding the agreed upon work schedule
- Willingness to perform all tasks assigned
- Ability to communicate well and comfortably with other team members
- Demonstration of understanding and knowledge by the type and quality of questions asked
- Completion of tasks in a timely and accurate manner
- Proactive reporting of progress and/or the need for additional assignments

The Advanced Engineering group at Red Dot designs and develops electronic control systems similar to those found in automobile air conditioners. Through this internship, an electrical engineering student would gain a good perspective on the use of engineering principles in the project management, design, development, testing and manufacture of electromechanical assemblies and systems.
