2016 Washington State Legislative Internship Applications Open Now

    Applications for the 2016 Washington State Legislative Internship are open now on their website!  The internship is open to ALL majors.

They will accept applications between now and October 16th.  The 2016 internship will run from January 6, 2016, through March 10, 2016. Starting this year, the Washington State Legislative Internship Program will have a Priority deadline of October 6th, and a final deadline of October 16th.

    The Legislative Internship is an amazing opportunity for students to learn about the formation of public policy at first hand while developing the sorts of transferable professional skills that employers are looking for.  On a day-to-day basis, interns are tracking legislation, attending hearings and meetings, communicating with constituents, and conducting research for state legislators.

NSA Electrical Engineering Student Scholarship $500 - Open to currently enrolled students pursuing a degree in electrical engineering. Must be a U.S. citizen. Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Aerospace Corporation Science & Engineering Student Scholarship $500 - Open to currently enrolled students working toward a degree (BA,BS, MS, PhD) in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, information systems, and mathematics. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Minimum 3.0 GPA.

STEM Inclusion Scholarship $500 - Open to currently enrolled students working toward a degree in a field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics from a group underrepresented in their field of study. Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Summer Career Center Workshops for Grad Students

The Career Center is offering two workshop series just for graduate students and postdocs this summer!

The first series, Academic Careers <http://careers.uw.edu/sites/default/files/all/editors/docs/gradstudents/Summer_2015_Academic_Careers_Workshops.pdf>, running June 18th-July 30th is for students interested in and/or preparing for the faculty job market. We'll go over key application components and hear advice from successful candidates. The first event in the series, Getting Started Panel, is next Thursday June 18th, 12:30-1:50pm in Savery 260.

The second series is for graduate students preparing for Non-Academic Careers <http://careers.uw.edu/sites/default/files/all/editors/docs/gradstudents/2015_Summer_Beyond_Academic_Career_Workshops.pdf>. In this workshop series students will work on their job search materials, get advice, and practice key skills (like interviewing!). It runs August 11th to 13th.
