New Stats Tutoring at CLUE: Sundays & Wednesdays

We just wanted to announce we hired a new Stats Tutor at CLUE!!

Stats tutoring will be offered every Sunday & Wednesday from 7pm-midnight in the 1^st floor Commons in Mary Gates Hall, starting Sunday Feb 2^nd (yes, Superbowl Sunday).

Writing Center Workshops

Are you having trouble fitting your jobs and extracurricular activities on a one-page resume?  Are you confused about how to write a resume that is going to be fed into a computer rather than read by a human being?  Are you having difficulty targeting your cover letter and resume for a particular position?  Well, the CLUE Writing Center is here to help!  

The CLUE Writing Center will be conducting a Resume and Cover Letter Workshop tonight in Mary Gates Hall. Our workshop aims to guide students through the process of creating a resume and cover letter that highlights their relevant skills and effectively tailors their experiences to meet a potential employer's needs. 

Who is this for?

·  All students applying for full time, part time, and holiday or summer employment. 

What will participants learn?

·  How to determine which personal, technical, and transferable skills to highlight

·  Tips for determining employer needs

·  How to analyze different resume formats and select one that best markets their skills and abilities

·  How to create a tailored resume and cover letter

Engineering Management Trainee Positions with BNSF Railway

Engineering Management Trainee

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our Management Trainee Program is a paid program designed specifically to shape the future leaders of our company. This program is designed for recent graduates with less than three years of professional work experience. The Engineering Management Trainee program is a 6-12 month program. This opportunity begins with a two-week long comprehensive orientation and leadership course at the BNSF Corporate Headquarters in Fort Worth, TX.  Following the two weeks in Fort Worth, the trainee will attend the BNSF Technical Training Center (TTC) in Overland Park, KS for four weeks of safety and technical training.

The Trainee will then re-locate to their new field location and complete the remainder of their training on-the-job.  There they will gain hands-on operational and leadership experience. This assignment could place a Trainee anywhere on BNSF's 32,500 mile system.

Overall, the trainee will learn to manage crews, project management and prepare for a field operations supervisory position.

Once at his/her assigned location, a Signal Engineering Management Trainee will be responsible for assisting in the planning and directing the construction, maintenance, and repair of electronic signaling devices, telecommunications equipment and other related electronics and electrical systems to ensure the best utilization of personnel and material for a safe and cost efficient operation at maximum production. Assist in planning and scheduling improvement and maintenance programs to ensure rail system is properly maintained and in safe operating condition. Identify and test new technology to improve maintenance procedures and extend asset life.

Salary Range: $56,000 - $64,000 annually

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above

·         Bachelor’s or graduate degree in engineering from an accredited university

·         Authorization to work in the US without Company sponsorship

·         Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays

·         Ability to work at least 80% in an outdoor/ field environment

·         Ability to relocate within the BNSF Railway operating system to start and/or upon career progression and/or business need

·         Valid Driver’s License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

·         Experience working in an engineering or construction related environment

·         Experience working outdoors

·         Proven leadership experience and excellent oral and written communication

RELOCATION:

RELOCATION WILL BE REQUIRED. A candidate can be relocated to any location across the BNSF system (see System Map on website www.bnsf.com). Ideal candidate should be very flexible regarding location.
