The
FAA is launching a national recruitment, outreach, and education
program in advance of upcoming public vacancy announcements on
USAJOBS expected on or about Feb. 10, 2014.
We
will host two Virtual Career Fair Events on Jan. 29 and Feb. 12,
available to all online audiences. Ahead of these dates, FAA will
provide recruitment information to job applicants via our official
social
media channels Facebook,
Twitter,
Linkedin) and
www.faa.gov/jobs. We have also created a
digital recruiting kit with multimedia products you can use to help
us get the word out about upcoming recruitment activities and vacancy
announcements.
The
FAA encourages all potential applicants to attend the virtual career
fair, build a federal resume, and access tutorials on how to apply for
federal jobs.

Green Dot Bystander Training on February 1st
UW Students,
We need your help to reduce power-based violence on campus! We believe that natural student leaders, like yourself, are in a position to use peer influence to change the world we live in. If you believe that one person experiencing acts of violence is too many, then Green Dot will give you the skills to do something about it.
Green Dot is a growing movement on campus. A Green Dot is any action that reduces the risk of violence in the moment, supports survivors or creates a culture less tolerant of power-based personal violence. A Green Dot is your individual choice to make our campus safer. A Green Dot is signing up for this winter’s Bystander Training.
Follow the link below to sign up for the training on February 1st from 10am-4pm in Alder Hall. At the training you will learn specific skills about how to do green dots, how to recognize red dots, and examine your personal barriers. The training is paid for by the university, snacks are provided with a catered lunch, and you will gain confidence in your ability to change our culture here at UW by being an active bystander.

NASA Langley Aerospace Research Student Scholars Summer Internship Program
The
National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) invites students who meet
eligibility requirements to apply to the prestigious NASA Langley
Aerospace Research Student Scholars (LARSS) summer internship program,
located in Hampton, Virginia.
All
majors are accepted! The LARSS program hosts over 200 interns annually

LARSS Eligibility Requirements:
· U.S. Citizen
· Full-time student status at an accredited U.S. college or university
· Cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
· Classification as a rising undergraduate junior, senior or graduate student by the start of the program
o Bridge
Program opportunities are available for rising high-school seniors,
college freshmen and sophomores who have previous NASA program
experience and a 3.5 GPA
Designed
to bridge the gap between academic concepts and real-world experience,
LARSS creates opportunities for students to come to NASA Langley
Research Center (LaRC) in Virginia to conduct hands-on research and
engineering projects under the mentorship of NASA researchers,
scientists, and business professionals.
The LARSS Program is open to
undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) as well as in business,
communication, marketing, and other areas that support NASA's mission.
All majors accepted, and minority students are encouraged to apply.
The
2014 summer session is ten (10) weeks long and runs from June 2 through
August 8. LARSS participants receive a stipend based upon academic
standing, ranging from $5,000-$6,000 for the 10 weeks.

Capstone Design Fund 2014
The Engineering Capstone Design Award was created to support student organizations (teams), across the College of Engineering, working on capstone design projects. Funding for this award is made possible through private support by alumni and friends of the College of Engineering. The funding (up to $3,000/team) can be used for purchase of supplies/materials, equipment, or training relevant to capstone projects.
Please pass this along to undergraduate students currently working on team capstone projects. The deadline to apply is February 28, 2014, by 11:00 PM.
Students will be notified by March 21, 2014.
