INFO 498B - Immersive Information Environments

INFO 498 B (SLN: 15735) - Immersive Information Environments

This course introduces students to immersive technologies and approaches to analyzing, designing and building immersive worlds utilizing game theory, 3D interactive design, environments, and learning theory. This course is conducted exclusively in a virtual world environment through a hands-on and practical educational approach.

3D immersive technologies create visual, not textual, engagement, including the use of gamification, virtual worlds, augmented reality, avatars, simulated environments, and experience-based interaction environments as a new space in which to architect information. Learning how to operate in these environments is critical as the web becomes more immersive. This course provides a theoretical and experiential forum for students to participate in various immersive worlds and understand their social structures, interaction models, and design elements.

ZeroG Team Looking for EEs

Hi EE undergrads,

The ZeroG team is looking for 1-2 EE students who are interested in space systems and has a background in embedded systems,  analog/digital circuit design and power systems. The team is writing a proposal for the Microgravity University to design an experiment to fly aboard the NASA Vomit Comet. It will be a highly interdisciplinary project and give opportunities for design and technical writing.

Gilman Scholarship information session, Sept. 4, 3:30pm, Paccar 391

Interested in study abroad?  Please join a Gilman International Scholarship Alumna for a presentation with information about this scholarship for study and internships abroad.  The presentation will take place in the Paccar Hall, room 391 from 3:30-4:30 on September 4 and will cover information on the Gilman Scholarship and how to create a competitive application. The Gilman Scholarship program offers grants for U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career-oriented internships abroad.

Build My Lab - DIY Lab Equipment Competition from Tekla Labs

Grand Challenges for Entrepreneurs is a new course for business students, geeks, and other undergraduates who want to do something out of the ordinary. The world faces some extraordinary challenges in innovation, big data, food and water, energy, education, careers, poverty, etc.  This course will explore those grand challenges—and the opportunities that come with them. Students will examine how solutions to these massive challenges can be researched, validated, and implemented using entrepreneurial creativity, opportunity recognition, business models, pivoting, and skilled execution.
