Participants wanted for a Computer Research Project
Researchers from the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at the University of Washington are planning to do a study measuring how different computer input devices affect how people use computers. We hope the results of this study will help us evaluate the ergonomic aptitude of current designs and potentially lead to the identification of additional design modifications to further promote effective ergonomics and health.
The duration of the study is:
2 to 4 hours
You will be asked to use:
Keyboards
We will measure:
Wrist posture with goniometers
Muscle activity with electrogmyography
Typing forces with a force platform
Preference questionnaires
Comfort questionnaires
All of these measurements are non-invasive and minimal risk. If you do decide to participate, you will be compensated $20/hr for your time. This money will be paid in cash.

SIT/World Learning has $18,000 in funding available for UW students for the 2012-2013 academic year. SIT Study Abroad sponsors a special need-based scholarship for students from the UW who participate on SIT Study Abroad programs. Scholarship awards vary according to financial need and can range from $500-$5,000 for semester programs and from $300-$3,000 for summer programs.
IE3 partners with UW to make sure students who intern abroad have a safe experience while doing meaningful work and earning credits towards their degree. Come to the IE3 info session next Thursday to learn more about what kind of work is available, what regions they send students to, and most importantly - funding opportunities! The application deadline for 2012 summer internships is January 25th, so come to this info session for application tips and to get things started! The twenty-eight attending companies will include Intel, Boeing, Adobe, Philips and more.
Who should attend:
The career fair is open to all students looking for internships, co-ops, and full-time employment in the fields of engineering, science, or technology.
