Verathon - Test Engineer (Contract)

Verathon has an exciting opportunity in our New Product Development group for a Contract Test Engineer. This position will be responsible for critical application software, hardware & system testing in support of our latest medical devices and products. This experienced Contract Test Engineer is expected to work with the team to provide technical acumen and development for a variety of technologies. A commitment to program goals and professional demeanor are essential.

Our New Product Development group is dynamic and provides a broad range of opportunities to work with a variety of technologies. Our development process includes everything from conception to release of new products for manufacturing.

Principal Responsibilities:
·         Define & design product and system tests for a variety of medical products
·         Review product documentation and implementation to assess risks and liabilities in the product.
·         Participate in requirements and specification reviews through design, implementation, testing and verification phases
·         Develop efficient test plans and test cases to verify the product implementation meets requirements and minimizes risks or liabilities.
·         Execute and report on test passes.
·         Characterize and then prioritize issues found in test passes.
·         Use Team Foundation Server to manage test cases and problem reports.
·         Requires close interaction and participation with a team of both software and hardware developers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
·         Must have shipped commercial software, hardware and/or other devices.
·         System testing on PC, Web and/or handheld devices
·         Experience with product development processes, structured designs, version control, and regression testing and configuration management.
·         Knowledge of Java, XML,  Linux, and C/C++/C#
·         Knowledge of Microsoft IIS and COM/COM+
·         Knowledge of Microsoft XP Home/Pro, Windows 7, and 2008 server
·         Defect tracking and analysis
·         Extensive troubleshooting experience for hardware and software
·         Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
·         Detailed oriented
·         Customer focus both inside Verathon and to end customers
·         Knowledge of Object Oriented architecture, design, and implementation methods a plus
·         Experience in Embedded or Medical systems a plus
·         BSCS, BSEE, other technical degree or equivalent with at least 2-5 years experience testing and validating commercial software, hardware and/or other devices.
·         Ability to work in a team or individually
·         Authorized to work in the United States
·          Excellent work ethic and takes responsibility for activities
·         Strong investigative talents and associated initiative.
·         Good written and verbal communications skills.
