Requisition Summary
Kenworth Truck Co., an operating company of
PACCAR Inc, currently has an entry-level opening for an Applications
Engineer.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Responsible
to be the Engineering expert on how the truck will be operated by the
end user, how the dealer will order the truck and the best combination
of available options for the customers application
- Respond
to formal dealer inquiries regarding truck specifications to clarify
sales orders and/or make recommendations related to proper component
usage.
- Support
Design and Manufacturing Engineering on specific projects, providing
the voice of the customer and dealer
- Answer
dealers’ telephone inquiries, job requests and option approval
requests (OAR)
- Provide
engineering support of sales tools and engineering back office
programs
- Travel
to customers and dealers to provide sales support for truck order
reviews
- Provide
technical knowledge for dealer training and other Kenworth training
courses
- Travel
to support Marketing events and industry trade shows
- Administer
the OAR process for unpublished options and narrative requests for
both orders and quotes
- Make
engineering required changes to the sales order
Qualifications & Skills
- BSME
or BSEE required; F.E. License desired.
- Excellent
verbal & written communication skills are a must; Customer service
oriented
- Mechanical
and/or electrical experience and aptitude
- Competency
in the use of personal computer software including word processing,
spreadsheets and databases; Programming and/or Pro/E experience a plus
- Willingness
and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment
- General
knowledge of truck or automotive systems/components and how they
function/interact
- Project
support and leadership for small to moderate size projects, including
customer request, process improvement & product development
support
- Understanding
of basic principles of computer/application program operation and
willingness to support maintenance of existing applications and
development of new processes and application
