Description
This
position is for Weyerhaeuser's Liquid Packaging Board business, which
produces bleached paperboard used to make
cartons and cups for liquids such as milk, juice, coffee and sake. This
business produces 260,000 metric tons of paperboard each year -- the
equivalent of 6 billion liter-sized milk cartons. This facility began
operations in Longview, WA in 1953 and employs
about 500 people.
A
Manufacturing Associate is assigned to a manufacturing site for 18 to
24 months on a full time temporary basis. During
that period, the Associate receives a comprehensive orientation to
Weyerhaeuser and its Pulp and Paper business, performs assignments in
most areas of the mill and receives training as determined by site and
business mentors. Successful completion of the
program normally leads to a full time regular manufacturing position
within the Liquid Packaging Manufacturing Business.
This particular position is open in the
Longview, WA Liquid Packaging Mill. This is an excellent professional development opportunity.
Associate roles and responsibilities may include:

Managing preventive and corrective maintenance activities associated with high and medium voltage power distribution systems
·
Developing and updating software associated with process control systems
·
Facilitating and/or leading small group problem solving activities to identify root cause of a mill problem
·
Participating on capital or major maintenance project teams
·
Managing electrical and process control equipment project work
·
Assisting mill Process Owners in optimizing process economics and process controls.
·
Other duties/projects may be assigned or required as needed.
Qualifications
·
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; or a related discipline
·
Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with a technical writing capability.
·
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment.
·
Well developed problem solving and analytical skills.
·
High level of initiative and motivation.
·
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
·
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
