Greetings
from the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. We hope this letter
finds you well.
The application is now open for our spring REACH event for prospective Ph.D. students
taking place April 3-4, 2014 in Los Angeles.
REACH brings to the University of Southern California
campus talented students from all over the U.S. and Canada who are
interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in an engineering field. This event is
particularly geared toward students from backgrounds that are historically
underrepresented in the field of engineering: African-American, Latino and
Native American. Female students are also highly encouraged to apply.
Travel expenses to and
from Los Angeles, hotel lodging, and meals are subsidized by the Viterbi
School.
Juniors with a
background in engineering, mathematics or a physical science (such as
physics, chemistry or biology) are invited to apply to the spring REACH
event. As a selected participant, students will attend presentations by
faculty about doctoral research opportunities; tour the USC campus and the
engineering facilities; meet with current students to learn about graduate
student life; and attend workshops on applying for Ph.D. admission and
funding graduate study. This experience will provide participants a unique
opportunity to gain valuable tools and resources to prepare for
application to doctoral programs upon graduation. (Please note: Only
citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or Canadian citizens are
eligible to apply)
Interested students can visit the REACH
webpage for more information and to submit an application to
attend the event. The deadline to apply is March 3, 2014.
