Meets
online on Thursday; 6 to 8:50 p.m.
This
course introduces students to immersive technologies and approaches to
analyzing, designing and building immersive worlds utilizing game
theory, 3D interactive
design, environments, and learning theory. This course is conducted
exclusively in a virtual world environment through a hands-on and
practical educational approach.
3D
immersive technologies create visual, not textual, engagement,
including the use of gamification, virtual worlds, augmented reality,
avatars, simulated environments,
and experience-based interaction environments as a new space in which
to architect information. Learning how to operate in these environments
is critical as the web becomes more immersive. This course provides a
theoretical and experiential forum for students
to participate in various immersive worlds and understand their social
structures, interaction models, and design elements.
