Xerox's Solid Ink Product Development Group is currently seeking NEW COLLEGE GRADUATES as Software Development Engineers to join our dynamic, fast paced color copier engineering environment. Become a leader in the race for stellar print and image quality by applying your talents as a image analysis tool developer, database manager and embedded software developer.  Take an active role in the generation, collection and analysis of our test data used to refine the design of our next generation products.   Work with a engineers from a variety of backgrounds to collect and organize their data in order to identify, characterize and solve print artifacts at the system level as required to deliver award winning print quality to the market place.

Job Description

  • Expand our image analysis tool suite by developing software for an experienced team of imaging scientists and SW engineers.
  • Become the owner of the data repository and the expert for the retrieval methods for the resulting data.
  • Expand your skills through the modification and creation of software for our various robotic measurement systems.
Essential Functions
  • Write the software needed to implement new image analysis methods for an internal image analysis tool suite.
  • Improve on existing image analysis software methods as needed.
  • Administer the tool suite release process in support of multiple development teams.
  • Expand on the existing SQL Server data storage and data analysis methods.
  • Administer the database for the collection of image analysis data.
  • Assist individual engineers in the extraction and analysis of the stored data.
Required Experience
  • Design and development of a PC based application using C++ desirable.
  • Design and development of SQL Server database structure and data flow desirable.
  • Experience with data access and processing using Microsoft Excel desirable.
  • Exposure to data mining and applied statistics.
  • Exposure to Java, C#, .NET and Visual Basic desirable.

NREIP Application Now Open!!!!! Sophomores NOW Accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) is a ten week summer research opportunity for undergraduate Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors, and Graduate students, under the guidance of a mentor, at a participating Navy Laboratory. The stipend amounts for the program are $5,250.00 for Sophomores, $7,880.00 for Junior and Senior undergraduate students and $10,500.00 for graduate students. U.S. citizenship required; Permanent residents accepted at certain labs.

The online application is now open at https://nreip.asee.org/ and must be completed by January 6, 2012.  All accompanying documents (official transcripts and reference letters) are due by January 6, 2012.

Undergraduate Research Program Info. Sessions & Advising

URP Information Sessions address how the Undergraduate Research Program can help the student pursue her/his research interests.

Primarily for undergraduates who have yet to begin research, the sessions provide research resources, information on funding, and suggestions for approaching faculty. Additionally, the sessions are highly student-driven, with an emphasis on student questions and concerns. Students interested in
attending the UW, including community college transfer students, are welcome to the sessions.

We are a semiconductor equipment manufacturing company.

We design, manufacture and service highly configurable, multi-million dollar capital equipment for the semiconductor industry. Our equipment is used inside fabs around the globe and is instrumental in manufacturing advanced chips. Chances are the electronics you use on a daily basis - smart phones, laptops, tablets, etc, contain chips made with Novellus equipment. We have two primary US locations: Portland, Oregon and San Jose, California.

Karl Hermanns specializes in chemical-related patent matters, including overall portfolio management and strategy.  He graduated with a both a B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from UW and holds a J.D. from the University of Colorado, School of Law.  Karl is an adjunct professor at the UW School of Law, co-teaching the patent preparation and prosecution courses and teaches “Intellectual Property for Scientists” through the Chemistry Dept.  He is also a faculty member in the Center for Advanced Study and Research on Intellectual Property (CASRIP) at UW School of Law.  In addition to his many positions within the University, Karl is also a managing partner at Seed IP Law Group, a Seattle-based law firm specializing in Intellectual Property. 

Buddy Ratner, Professor & Michael L. & Myrna Darland Endowed Chair in Technology Commercialization, holds joint faculty appointments in Bioengineering and Chemical Engineering and is also the Director of UW Engineering Biomaterials (UWEB-21).  Read more….

Intel Corporation seeking PhD candidates & recent graduates

The Portland Technology Development group of Intel Corporation has several openings for physical science Ph.D.s to support/direct R&D of advanced processing methods. Candidates hired for these positions will be responsible for developing the next generation of Intel's microprocessors.

Ph.D. candidates in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related fields are encouraged to apply. Criteria for selection include: a strong academic record, demonstrated experimental expertise, an ability to drive and take responsibility for projects and a solid peer-reviewed publication record. Experience using and maintaining complex scientific equipment is preferred, but not required.
